Subject: Some airplane models I have built over the years Sun Mar 14, 2010 6:19 pm
1/48th scale U. S. Navy Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber (below). The old Monogram kit.
1/48th scale U. S. Navy Grumman F6F Hellcat fighter (below).
1/48th scale U. S. Air Force Republic P-47 Thunderbolt (below). This was my first airbrush attempt many years ago. The overall silver and the red on the nose were airbrushed. IIRC the invasion stripes and the red nose were airbrushed first and then masked off so I could airbrush the silver.
1/72nd scale U. S. Navy Grumman F4F Wildcat (below).
1/72nd scale U. S. Navy Lockheed S-3 Viking (below).
I was an Enlisted Naval Aircrewman (sonar/radar operator) on this type of plane during my 5-year stint in the Navy (1989-1994) and this is the helmet I wore (below). I sat behind the pilot on the left side where the little window is.
